Submitting of a manuscript

The requirements for publishing an article in "Studia Polsko-Ukraińskie" journal:

  • The article should have between 22,000 and 30,000 characters (including bibliography and abstract). It is recommended that the article includes the followings elements: the purpose and the goal of an article, theoretical background, an overview of previous research on the subject, a research gap (a problem that has not been answered by any of the existing research in the field), presentation of own research, discussion of results, conclusions and prospective research.
  • The Editorial Board accepts texts in English, Polish and Ukrainian languages. The article must be adequate to the thematic profile of the journal.
  • The articles should be submitted in .doc format (Microsoft Office – Word). Other formats like .pdf are not accepted.

Formatting guidelines:

  • full name and surname of the author (left upper corner, font size 12, bold); original name and surname in a Cyrylic alphabet shall be converted into Latin alphabet according to the official transliteration rules
  • affiliation (below name, font size 10, official name of an institution in English)
  • a full address of the author's ORCID page (below affiliation, font size 10)
  • a title of the article (center-aligned, font size 14, bold; below the same title in English language) 
  • below the title an abstract in English language (10-15 lines, font size 10); in the next line keywords in English (up to 10 words, font size 10)
  • the article's body - font size 12, Times New Roman lettertype
  • footnotes - numbered continously in the whole text; font size 10; references from sources in the Cyrylic alphabet shall be converted into Latin alphabet according to the official transliteration rules
  • quotes up to 3 lines shall be marked with quotation marks relevant to the article's language and included in the article's body. Quotes above 3 lines shall be double indented versus the article's body, font size 10, without quotation marks. Please do not use italics for quotations. Two embedded quotes shall be separated with comas and quotation marks, for example:

«Народ завжди має право», пише Пилип Орлик, «протестувати проти гніту».

  • for emphasis, please use bold font. When applying emphasis in quotations, please add the autor's initials in square brackets [emphasis M.J.]. Foreign words shall be marked in italics (except quotations, provided they are in italics in the original quoted text)
  • titles of referenced works (books, journals etc.) shall be styled according to the article's language rules
  • comments and bibliographical references shall be numbered continously in the whole text. Articles shall have comments in the same language (articles in Ukrainian language shall have comments in Ukrainian, articles in Polish language - comments in Polish language and so on). For all comments and references please use footnotes (font size 10). Footnotes and bibliography are prepared in the article's language, however for texts in Ukrainian, footnotes shall be converted into Latin alphabet according to the official Ukrainian transliteration rules: https://www.kmu.gov.ua/ua/npas/243262567

  • When referencing earlier referenced works or names, please use the following Latin terms (for text in all languages): ibidem, idem/eadem, op. cit.; for no place of publication please use s.l. (since loco) and for no year of publication - s.a. (sine anno). Other elements of bibliographical description should be relevant to the article's language, i.e. for Polish and Ukrainian languages [w:]/[v:] or s., for English language [in:] or p.
  • If possible, please use abbreviated forms, for example: transl., ed. etc.
  • Please end the article with a full bibliography of referenced works in an alphabetical order (for works in a Cyrylic alphabet please use relevant transliteration tables). Works non-referenced in the article shall be included in a bibliography only in exceptional and justified cases. In a bibliography, please use the author's surname first followed by his/her initial(s) and remaining elements of a bibliographical description, for example:

Kroll P., Od ugody hadziackiej do Cudnowa. Kozaczyzna między Rzecząpospolitą a Moskwą w latach 1658–1660, Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, Warszawa 2008.

Texts which do not meet the formal requirements will be returned to the author for correction.

The Editorial Board reserves the right of selection of articles for the publication.
