Abstract

The author publishes an excerpt from her personal diary. She has been writing it since the outbreak of the covid epidemic. This fragment begins on 24 February – the day of Russian aggression against Ukraine. She believes that war is also a cruel kind of pestilence. The author contrasts the atmosphere of apparent peace and spring mood on the streets of Warsaw with the terror of war in Ukraine. She quotes e-mails from his friends in Kiev and poems by Oleksandr Irvanets and Timothy Snyder. She reports on a hybrid conference from the Jagiellonian University under the slogan “University and War”. Vice-rectors of Ukrainian universities spoke about the situation and activities of universities in Ukraine. In the final part of the diary, the author included a description of the meeting with her friend in Warsaw, professor Natalya Starchenko.
